RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has signed an agreement with Kenya’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to regulate the recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya to the Kingdom.

The agreement was signed in Riyadh by Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor Abdullah Abuthnain and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua.

The ceremony, hosted by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was attended by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi.

The event took place on the sidelines of the inaugural meeting of the Saudi-Kenyan Political Consultations Committee.

The agreement establishes a framework for the regulated recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya while safeguarding the rights of both employers and workers and strengthening the contractual relationship between them.
