NewsUK NewsBusiness FinanceKernowfornia, a music festival which had been due to take place on East Looe beach, Cornwall, over three days at the beginning of September, has been scrapped13:28, 06 Jul 2026Updated 13:40, 06 Jul 2026A popular music festival in Cornwall has been cancelled after the organisers went bust.‌Kernowfornia, which had been due to take place on East Looe beach over three days at the beginning of September, has now been scrapped.‌Gracenote Promotion LTD, the company behind both Kernowfornia Festival and last week’s inaugural Morvala Festival of Arts in south east Cornwall, said it has been forced to cancel the planned festival.‌It stated it "has been left with no responsible alternative but to begin the process of entering liquidation, as it is insolvent".Kernowfornia had its inaugural festival last year when Marillion was the headliner act.On its website the festival organisers describe Kernowfornia as "not your average festival" but being "built by dreamers for dreamers, alternatives and families alike", reported CornwallLive.‌They said: "With our unique location on the beautiful East Looe Beach, the festival features both internationally renowned acts and local musicians, across two stages on the beach. Kernowfornia Festival supports grass roots, original music, whilst also supporting charities and community projects."2025 saw over 4000 people gathering together on Looe Beach - and next year already looks even better. Join us for year two from 4th - 6th September 2026 and discover Looe and all the amazing things there are to do in this historic seaside town."Following a successful first year, the organisers of the Kernowfornia booked dozens of artists for their second year. James Morrison, Starsailor and Seth Lakeman had been due to headline the festival on the Friday with Kula Shaker, Kalandra and Shakey Graves as the main acts on the Saturday evening.‌While the main band had yet to be revealed for the Sunday, Reef and Cornwall band Haunt the Woods were due on stage just before the main act.The organisers of Kernowfornia issued a full statement on the festival's social media platforms, saying: "It is with profound sadness that we must announce that Kernowfornia Festival 2026 will not be taking place."Gracenote Promotion LTD, the company behind both Kernowfornia Festival and this year’s inaugural Morvala Festival of Arts, has taken professional advice following recent financial developments and a full review of the company’s overall financial position.Article continues below"It is with enormous regret that the company has been left with no responsible alternative but to begin the process of entering liquidation, as it is insolvent.
