A coordinated wave of attacks by armed groups has swept across Mali, targeting military positions held by the ruling junta and Russian Africa Corps units, in what appears to be one of the most extensive offensives in recent months.

Coordinated multi-region assaults

The strikes, carried out on July 4, hit multiple locations across the country, stretching from the north to areas close to the capital Bamako. According to Malian military statements, clashes were reported in Aguelhok, Anefis, and Gao in the north, Sevare in central Mali, and Kenioroba in the south.

The junta later expanded the list of affected areas, acknowledging attacks in additional central towns including Konna and Somadougou. The army said these positions were defended with support from Russia’s Africa Corps, a paramilitary force operating alongside government troops.

Officials insisted the situation had been brought under control after initial fighting spread across several regions.
