Before the final vote to either convict or acquit Vice President Sara Duterte in her impeachment trial, the senator-judges will be voting on different issues that will decide how the trial will proceed.
According to political analyst Arjan Aguirre, these votes on jurisdiction, admissibility of evidence, procedural motions, or amendments deserve close attention.
“[These votes] frequently reveal legislators' underlying preferences before the final vote,” he told Rappler. “Legislative scholars often view these intermediate votes as informative signals because they expose coalition formation in real time.”
