The Cave was only made available as part of the streamer's extensive library recently.Despite this short time, it has still managed to storm the charts. At the time of writing, The Cave is the third most watched film among UK subscribers. It is only behind new original releases Enola Holmes 3 and Voicemails for Isabelle.According to its synopsis, the film, which was originally released back in 2005, follows a group of cave divers who are hired to investigate some Romanian ruins. However, the group's escape route is soon cut off.As if that wasn't treacherous enough, they find themselves being hunted by monstrous creatures that live down below. They must navigate the vast network of caverns in order to survive.A few people rediscovering the title are impressed with the cast, including Cole Hauser, Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, Piper Perabo and Daniel Dae Kim. It has been compared, often favourably to other monster movies such as The Descent, Alien and even Vin Diesel's sci-fi outing Pitch Black. One fan called it "Extremely underrated." They also claimed: "This movie deserves the recognition and the people who made it possible as well."Someone agreed, as they added: "This movie had pretty much everything it should. The photography and scenery were very beautifully done. The cast was fun and varied, Cole Hauser especially was very intense and captivating and carried the movie well. There was plenty of suspense, horror, adventure, action, monsters, special effects, the whole range."While another labelled it a "messed up horror". It certainly isn't the most critically acclaimed film available. However, there are many who have seen it and say it is still enjoyable for what it is.Such as one person who was looking for a title with a similar premise. They said: "Wanted to put a comfort horror on in the background while working on a rainy day so searched The Descent on Netflix. They didn't have it, so watched the recommended The Cave instead.Article continues below"It was delightful in a wow this is terrible kind of way. I think of it as a boy-band knock-off version of The Descent. Though with a delightful twist that you see coming the whole time."Many agreed, including one person who admitted a key line has been "burnt into my mind for 19 years". One fan claimed: "Very good action horror! I’ve watched this a few times over the years and it’s never a disappointment."The Cave is streaming on Netflix.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.NetflixLena HeadeyPiper PeraboDaniel Dae Kim
