Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on July 6 that Ukraine has already signed contracts for additional Patriot missiles, with deliveries expected to begin next year. He called on partner nations to provide missiles from their current inventories now and replenish their own stockpiles once those future deliveries arrive. “The simple solution for our partners is to temporarily allocate these missiles from their stockpiles,” Fedorov said. “This will save countless lives. Bureaucracy must not become a barrier to protecting human life.”JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. Fedorov’s appeal came after another large-scale overnight Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine. He said Ukrainian air defenses intercepted nearly all cruise missiles and more than 90% of attacking Shahed drones, but ballistic missiles again struck civilian areas. According to Fedorov, Russia is increasingly relying on ballistic missiles to target residential neighborhoods as it struggles to achieve its military objectives on the battlefield. He added that Russia is exploiting the global shortage of Patriot interceptors, claiming Moscow now launches more ballistic missiles at Ukraine in a month than the world produces Patriot missiles over the same period. Fedorov said he would hold talks later on July 6 with defense ministers from countries that have Patriot interceptor missiles in storage, seeking urgent transfers while Ukraine waits for new deliveries scheduled for next year.
