Oliver Glasner has been unveiled as Nottingham Forest's new manager, with the Premier League club having axed Vitor Pereira via email just two minutes before a clause in his contract was set to expire10:07, 06 Jul 2026Updated 10:31, 06 Jul 2026Nottingham Forest have announced Oliver Glasner as their new manager after ruthlessly sacking Vitor Pereira via email. Pereira, 57, pulled off a rescue act last season after being appointed in February, keeping Forest in the Premier League as well as reaching the Europa League semi-finals, where they lost to eventual winners Aston Villa. But owner Evangelos Marinakis has swooped for Glasner, who recently left Crystal Palace upon the expiry of his contract. Austrian boss Glasner won both the FA Cup and Conference League with Palace in just under three seasons and he has now joined Forest on a contract until 2029.Speaking on his appointment, Glasner said: “I’m delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach. From my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident to me that they have a clear vision for this football club and complete trust and belief in me and my staff to build a strong future together over the long term."That trust and shared commitment, together with the potential that I see within the squad, were key factors for me and I am excited about what we can achieve together. Nottingham Forest is a club with incredible prestige and history, a two-time European Champion with one of the most passionate fan bases in football. Our aim is to build a team that can help take the club to the next level in the years ahead and that our supporters can be proud of. He has earned success through his leadership, his personality and the style of football his teams play. We believe he is the right person to lead us into this next chapter, and I am delighted to welcome Oliver to the Club.”His appointment caps a surprising turn of events. Periera, who'd been planning for the 2026-27 campaign at the City Ground, was left stunned after receiving an email confirming his departure at 11:58pm on June 30.That was two minutes before a specific clause in his contract was due to expire. Had Forest not acted before midnight, the cost of his sacking would've been significantly more expensive.
