Kyiv, July 6 (EFE).- At least nine people were killed early Monday and 43 others were injured in another major Russian attack on Kyiv, according to a preliminary toll released by Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, whose crews continued searching for victims amid the rubble of several buildings hit in the bombardment.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage in three districts of the capital. Several apartment blocks suffered structural damage and fires as a result of the Russian strike, he said. Rescue services evacuated residents from affected buildings, including children.
The Ukrainian Air Force’s Telegram channel reported overnight that Russian drones and missiles were heading toward Kyiv, where loud explosions were heard in the early hours of Monday.
On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia was preparing a new large-scale attack on Ukraine after a similar bombardment killed 30 people in the capital last Thursday.
Zelenskyy noted that the attack Russia prepared—and carried out early Monday—came ahead of the start of the annual NATO summit, scheduled to be held Tuesday and Wednesday in Turkey. EFE
