According to the police, the attack was reported at about 3:30 a.m. by a resident of Shagari identified as Oluwatoyin, who said he had heard a gunshot around 1:00 a.m. from a neighbouring residence before hearing a familiar voice crying out for help.

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one suspect and launched a manhunt for other members of an armed robbery gang over the killing of a resident, Clement Idris, during an attack in the Shagari area of Akure.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, saying the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 3, 2026.

The resident reportedly rushed outside and found Idris lying in a pool of blood.
