Newcastle United have completed the signing of Bazoumana Toure from German club Hoffenheim. The 20-year-old winger is Newcastle’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Ewen Jaouen from Reims.Newcastle turned their attention to Toure after missing out on Victor Munoz, who eventually joined Liverpool for €40million (£34.6m) .“I’m very, very happy to be here. It was my dream since I was young to play in the Premier League for a big team like Newcastle,” Toure said upon his signing.“Newcastle is like a family, which will help me show my best on the pitch. I will give my best every single day for this shirt.”

— Newcastle United (@NUFC) July 5, 2026Head coach Eddie Howe added Toure was an “exciting talent” and said: “We feel that he’s a player with a really high ceiling. He’s somebody who we believe can offer us

something different. He also a lot of potential to unlock and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”Funds have been raised at the club after the €80m sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and the impending departure of midfielder Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal that will see Spurs pay £92.5m for the 26-year-old 26, with an additional £7.5m in potential add-ons.Newcastle accelerated their move for Ivory Coast international Toure after his side was knocked out of the World Cup on Tuesday in the last-32 by Norway. Toure appeared in three games at the tournament.Toure signed for Hoffenheim in February 2025 from Swedish side Hammarby. Last season, he made 32 appearances in all competitions last campaign, recording five goals and 12 assists as Hoffenheim finished fifth in the Bundesliga and qualified for the Europa League. Some much-needed positivity at NewcastleAnalysis by Newcastle correspondent Chris WaughIf the Tonali news was received negatively by the fanbase, primarily due to the destination he is heading rather than the agreement to sell a player who was expected to leave, then being close to a first-XI signing will at least provide a dose of positivity.Toure was among the attacking targets after Newcastle lost out on Munoz, and will be expected to fill the creative void which Gordon’s departure left.Until he is pictured holding the shirt and the deal is announced, there will be understandable apprehension among the Newcastle fan base as to whether they will be gazumped when chasing another target.Yet if Newcastle can actually conclude this one, given it is extremely advanced, then the hope must be that this kickstarts a significant recruitment drive. The Newcastle hierarchy has insisted for months that they have a plan for rebuilding this summer, and the fear up until now was that it involved star players leaving while the club missed out on signings. Toure would just represent the start of the business they still need to conclude, but he would be a very welcome addition indeed and would give credence to that aforementioned blueprint.
