But before Gabby's BBC career took off, she was notably pulled from covering the 2006 World Cup while at ITV.Speaking on the White Wine Question Time podcast, the presenter previously revealed: "I think I had a tough time in my early 30s in my career, and I can't believe that's nearly 20 years ago. At the time, I thought it was going to be the end of my career."I was departing ITV and given another opportunity by the BBC... because even in my early 30s, I felt I'd already had this really lengthy career and I'd done loads of fantastic work. I'd started off at Sky, moved to ITV and did loads of brilliant things.‌"But I kind of felt I was perhaps going to have to change direction and do something completely different because I had a boss that wasn't really into me and wanted to slightly demote me. He pulled me off the World Cup in 2006."Gabby went on: "I was scheduled to cover many knockout games and he said [not to return] basically. Go home and don't come back because I was due to go home for a few days."Family heartbreak‌Gabby has also endured a devastating personal tragedy, following the death of her younger brother, Daniel, back in 1992. Daniel died aged just 15 while playing football.A post-mortem examination later confirmed that he had died from undiagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) - a congenital heart condition.Speaking about the devastating loss on BBC Wales Live, Gabby previously said: "He was playing football in the garden with my dad and he fell over. My dad thought he was just messing about and went over and rolled him over, and he basically died on the spot - and had no previous indications whatsoever that there were any health problems at all with him.‌"It's like a sledgehammer coming down and sending everybody off in different directions because it's such a catastrophic thing to happen, and no warning - and everybody responds differently."Tragically, Gabby suffered further heartbreak earlier this year when her "legend" dad, Terry Yorath, died at the age of 75. Gabby left partway through a Match of the Day broadcast owing to the family emergency, with Mark Chapman taking over her duties at short notice.‌Yorath was a Welsh footballing legend, renowned for his accomplished playing and managerial career. He played for numerous clubs, including Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City, while earning 50 caps as a midfielder for Wales. In a touching tribute to her father on Instagram, Gabby wrote: "Our dad was a warrior on the football pitch, captaining club and country, a kind hearted and generous man off it." She revealed that his death had come as a "shock", despite being aware he had limited time left following a period of poor health.Gabby and her father aren't the only well-known faces in the family, as she is married to former rugby union star Kenny Logan.Article continues belowThe couple's two children have followed in their parents' sporting footsteps; their son, Reuben, is a professional rugby union player, while their daughter, Lois, has made a name for herself as an accomplished showjumper and horse rider.Coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 airs on the BBC and ITV
