AIADMK deputy general secretary K.P. Munusamy on Sunday (July 5) said Minister for Public Works Department (PWD) Aadhav Arjuna was trying to dilute the Karur stampede case.Speaking to reporters in Krishnagiri district, Mr. Munusamy said the Minister was threatening police in the Karur tragedy case through his recent speech that there was an account pending in the Karur issue and it would be settled. The Karur stampede case was being investigated by the CBI with the monitoring of the Supreme Court. At this time, the Minister was trying to dilute the Karur case, he claimed. There was nothing wrong in petitioning the Governor. “As the TVK lacks a majority, it is trying to break other political parties through horse trading. Therefore, both the DMK and the AIADMK met the Governor, and there is nothing wrong with it,” Mr. Munusamy added. On bringing former BJP president K. Annamalai into the AIADMK, Mr. Munusamy said there was no leader in the AIADMK like Edappadi K. Palaniswami, known for his hard work, sacrifice and close connection with the cadre. A few former AIADMK leaders have joined the TVK for posts, but they could not even meet party president C. Joseph Vijay, he said.Saying that there was no alliance between the DMK and the AIADMK, Mr. Munusamy said Mr. Palaniswami travelled 25,000 kilometers over one and a half years and campaigned against the DMK. Those who went out of the AIADMK were spreading the rumour, he added. Published - July 05, 2026 08:38 pm IST
