The government has issued a stern notice to Meta on Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) in paid advertisements on Instagram, sources said on Sunday (July 5, 2026).The government has issued the notice on Saturday (July 4) evening."The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has ordered Instagram to disable all ads and content promoting and facilitating access to CSEAM," the sources said.The Ministry has also demanded a detailed explanation within seven days.The Ministry also has summoned the Meta over a recent report about the proliferation of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) advertisements on Instagram.IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw directed “Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) officials to summon Meta on the matter of Instagram ads promoting child sexual abuse material in India,” an official said.
