President Donald Trump marked the start of Independence Day celebrations at Mount Rushmore with a fiery speech warning of a "communist menace" in the U.S. while framing America’s 250th anniversary as a defining moment for national identity.
Trump Targets ‘Communist Menace’ In July 4 Speech
On Saturday, speaking in Keystone, South Dakota, Trump delivered a sharply political address in which he criticized Democratic Socialists and progressive candidates, saying, "There is now a resurgence of the communist menace in our land."
He added, "Communism is the enemy of free people everywhere… it is the enemy of the Constitution."
Trump also urged major electoral changes, calling for the elimination of the Senate filibuster and promoting a "SAVE America Act," arguing, "If we terminate the filibuster as we should do… then we will not lose an election for a hundred years."
