Details about two other women whose bodies were found in suitcases in Thailand show some similarities to the teen allegedly murdered by an Australian man last month.Tunchanok Donhomla, 17, was allegedly strangled before her body was dumped in a black suitcase near train tracks on the outskirts of Pattaya in late June.CCTV footage revealed the young sex worker was last seen alive with Australian man Simon Peter Carman, 45, who was allegedly tracked disposing of her remains. The Ballarat-born man was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday, June 26 as he attempted to board a flight back to Australia. He faces the death penalty if found guilty, having been charged with murder and other offences, including abducting a minor for indecent purposes, while local authorities report Mr Carman claimed he killed the 150cm-tall teenager in self defence after a disagreement about payment. The case has exposed the dangers faced by sex workers in the notorious city of Pattaya, where sex tourism draws visitors from around the world. It has also been compared to two other cases of young women who were murdered before their bodies were found dumped in suitcases within 70km of the city last year. There is no suggestion Mr Carman was involved in the other two women’s deaths.Remains of the other women were discovered in waterways in Rayong and Chonburi on February 7 and September 3, 2025 respectively.Their identities remain unknown to authorities but the woman found in Chonburi also appeared to have similar facial injuries to Ms Donhomla and was strangled. “A preliminary examination showed bruising on the neck, chest and nasal bridge and trace fingerprints were found on the weight plates,” The Bangkok Post reported at the time.Nine weight plates were used with barbells in an attempt to submerge the King Safari suitcase – one 5kg plate, three of 2.5kg, one 1.5kg and four 0.5kg plates. Also like Ms Donhomla, the victim was tattooed but this woman was believed to be aged around 30.Local media reported at the time authorities were unable to ascertain if the woman was Thai or foreign and that she had been dead for about five days.It came as police continued to investigate the death of the first woman, whose body was found about 14km away in Rayong in February 2025.This woman, also believed to be in her 30s, was about the same height as Ms Donhomla. The bag in which her body was concealed had been weighed down by two 10kg plates. Both women found last year had undergone nose and breast augmentations.Family wants death penaltyThe heartbroken family of Ms Donhomla do not believe Mr Carman’s claims of self-defence and are calling for the former truck driver and mechanic to be “executed” if the case against him is proven.“I told the police I want him executed. As a mother, I don’t know what else to say. I just want him executed,” said Ms Donhomla’s stepmother, Oradee Bussarakum.“I asked the police if I could hit him, if I could beat him,” she added.“Please, just let me. The police told me not to, that he would face the full consequences regardless.”In a bizarre video message to Ms Donhomla’s parents, Mr Carman said he felt bad “for what happened”, but that it was “out of my control”.“I know you’ll be very sad, upset; same-same me,” he said.“It shouldn’t happen and I hope you’re OK. I know you’re not, but I hope. Please tell other girls to be careful.”Accused killer ‘regularly’ brought girls homeMr Carman was living in the Jomtien Condominium apartment blocks in Pattaya, where he reportedly paid $100 a week in rent.Photos of Mr Carman’s small room were obtained by the ABC earlier this week, after a friend of Ms Donhomla went to confront the Aussie over her friend’s disappearance.Inside the room were piles of clothing stacked on the couch and ironing board as well as loose documents scattered across the table and empty spirit bottles. Now, sources have claimed that Mr Carman “regularly” brought Thai women back to his apartment, occasionally asking them to “clean his room.”“She (Tunchanok) was the youngest, but they were all young,” one source told The Daily Telegraph.– with Ella McIlveen
