The Golden Boot race at the 2026 World Cup has not disappointed.Some of the game's biggest stars, including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland have been scoring for fun. All three are at the top of the current leaderboard, alongside England star Harry Kane.Mbappe won the Golden Boot in 2022 with eight goals, as Messi finished in second with seven. It appears that those two could battle it out once again for the crown this year.They are also in a battle for the most goals ever at a World Cup. Messi has set the record at this tournament, reaching 20 after his goal against Cape Verde in the round of 32.
