Manchester City have reached agreement with Leicester City to sign Jeremy Monga for £12.5million plus a sell-on clause. The Athletic reported on Thursday that City were working on a deal to sign Monga, 16, with Arsenal withdrawing their own interest, believing the valuation was too high. The deal is worth £12.5m in total, comprising £10million plus £2.5m in potential contingencies.Newly-appointed City head coach Enzo Maresca is behind the club’s drive for Monga, having known the player from his time as Leicester head coach in the 2023-24 season.Monga is the third-youngest player to appear in a Premier League match, having made his debut aged 15 years and 271 days in his first of seven substitute appearances for Leicester at the end of the 2024-25 season, as they suffered relegation. Only Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri appeared in the top-flight at a younger age.The teenager was more involved for Leicester in the Championship last season, making 30 appearances, primarily as a substitute, recording a goal and two assists. His side suffered another relegation after they were deducted six points for breaching the English Football League’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) during the three-year period ending with the 2023-24 season.
