SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO: Meta is testing its experimental social media app "Pocket," which allows developers and creative individuals to "create, share, and discover" their vibe-coded mini-games with each other. The app is listed on the Google Play Store, but it doesn't offer a download option for general users, suggesting it is currently in a closed testing phase.
The Play Store listing page for Pocket describes the app as a creative platform for making and sharing "gizmos," which Meta defines as "small interactive thing(s)" that users can "tap and play with." The company added that gizmos are essentially mini-games that can be controlled using touch and tilt gestures.
Meta is positioning Pocket as a TikTok- or Instagram-style app for mini-games. It will allow users to scroll a feed of gizmos created by people around the world and interact with the content through likes and comments.
The app will also be able to access the phone's camera and photo gallery, subject to user permission. Users will be able to save gizmos into playlists just like audio tracks, and even share their playlists with others.
You won't need to be a developer with coding skills to create a gizmo. According to Meta, virtually anybody can make a gizmo just by describing it in a text editor using natural language prompts. Users can tweak the prompt as many times as needed until they are happy with the result. Once the user is happy with the result, they can publish the gizmo for other Pocket users to discover.
