Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said the government plans to explore and develop potential gold deposits in Kuppam using modern technology on the lines of the Jonnagiri Gold Project.Addressing a public meeting in Kuppam, the Chief Minister said geological indications suggest the presence of gold-bearing formations in the region and that the State would leverage advanced exploration and mining technologies to unlock the resource potential. The initiative would form a part of the government’s vision to transform Kuppam into “Swarna Kuppam”, an industrial and employment hub, he added. Naidu said the proposed gold exploration would complement the region’s broader industrial development strategy and generate employment opportunities, reducing the need for local youth to migrate in search of jobs.Kuppam had rich mineral resources and its blue granite was already enjoying strong demand in international markets, the Chief Minister said, adding that the government was planning to establish a Heritage Granite Cluster to strengthen value addition and exports from the region. The State government was keen on a wider industrial push in Kuppam and was aiming to attract manufacturing and mineral-based investments to the constituency, represented by the Chief Minister, according to a release.
