In an initiative to promote environmental awareness among school students, the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) organised an interaction programme for high school students at its office in Visakhapatnam on Friday, according to a release issued on Saturday.The programme was organised as part of the ‘A Functional Literacy Programme’ at the request of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). Around 60 students and accompanying staff participated. GVMC Commissioner Kethan Garg interacted with the students.Officials of the APPCB, including the Joint Chief Environmental Engineer (JCEE), environmental engineers and scientists, conducted an interactive session on sustainable living and pollution control.During the hour-long session, the officials explained the role of the APPCB in environmental protection. They also spoke about measures to control air, water and noise pollution, and highlighted the importance of scientific waste management, including segregation, recycling and safe disposal.
