Children could be at risk of drowning this summer as a result of pools closing and patchy access to school lessons, swimming bodies and experts have warned.
Hundreds of local authority swimming pools have shut in recent years and in some areas of the country, the number of children able to swim 25 metres by the time they leave primary school is in decline.
Former Olympic swimmer Baroness Davies is among those raising the alarm on the dangers children face and calling on the Government to step in to urgently address the issue.
