Lewis Hamilton is looking to close the gap on Kimi Antonelli this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton said it was an absolute dream to stand on top of the starting grid at Silverstone in Ferrari colours after his scintillating performance on Friday afternoon.

Hamilton will start Saturday's Silverstone Sprint from pole position after pipping championship leader Kimi Antonelli by the finest of margins, continuing what has become an increasingly encouraging run of form for both the seven-time world champion and Ferrari.

It is now the third consecutive race weekend in which Hamilton and Ferrari have locked out a front-row start, underlining an upward trajectory the Scuderia has not enjoyed in several seasons.

An emotional Hamilton admitted the achievement meant far more than just another pole position, and he was visibly moved by the thunderous reception from the partisan Silverstone crowd.
