BBC Casualty has been cancelled tonight as the medical drama is replaced by FIFA World Cup coverage.08:56, 04 Jul 2026Fans of Casualty are in for some disappointing news, as the beloved BBC medical drama is set to be bumped from its usual scheduling slot.‌Typically, viewers settle in to watch the long-running series on Saturday evenings, however this weekend (July 4) it will be absent from the BBC's schedule entirely.‌The shake-up is down to FIFA World Cup coverage, with BBC viewers instead able to tune in and watch Canada face Morocco.‌The match is due to get under way at 5:30pm, with kick-off half an hour later, running through until 8:30pm — which would clash directly with Casualty's regular time slot of 8:10pm.The good news, however, is that fans of the medical drama won't have too long to wait, as it's set to return to screens the following weekend on July 11, reports OK!‌At present, the long-running drama is approaching the conclusion of its 'Lethal Legacy' box set, which has centred on the military past of Flynn Byron (Olly Rix).Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) has also featured prominently throughout the box set, with her affair with trainee doctor Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius) — the son of her close friend Dylan Keogh (William Beck) — taking centre stage.In recent episodes, viewers have grown increasingly worried about recovering alcoholic Dylan after he was seen accepting a glass of champagne while delivering a speech at a function.‌A synopsis for the forthcoming episode reads: "Dylan is confronted by Matty about his drinking, but assures him it was just a one-off. However, as he treats a burns victim, he begins to suffer debilitating flashbacks to his drinking binge and flees from the unit."Faith avoids feeding Pearl as she prepares to return to work, leaving Iain concerned.
