Boxers, organisers and officials have promised an explosive night of action at the “Fight for Liberty” event, hosted by Prizefighting, holding on Saturday, July 4, at the NIS Gymnasium of the National Stadium, Surulere, with 11 fights sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control lined up for fans.
President of the NBBofC, Rafiu Oladipo, commended the organisers, particularly Miyen Akiri, for their consistency and loyalty to the board during the press conference on Friday at the Brai Ayanote Boxing Gym, noting that Nigerian boxing had endured for 79 years.
“I want to thank the organisers of the fight, particularly Miyen Akiri, for the consistency and loyalty to the NBBofC, as we have been doing boxing for 79 years now. This is my appeal to the boxers to take care of themselves, and I wish them the very best of luck for tomorrow. And I want to congratulate the organisers for putting this together,” Oladipo said.
The NBBofC Vice President, Prince Adetoye Olofin, also congratulated the boxers and revealed that the board would continue to pursue the growth of the sport in the country.
Secretary-General of the NBBofC, Remi Aboderin, described the honour of witnessing the event’s preparations and assured that the board would not disappoint the promoter.
