An emotional Emma Willis was in tears as she spoke about the freedom she wanted for her three children at this year's Attitude Pride Awards in London17:31, 03 Jul 2026Emma Willis was emotional at the Peugeot Attitude Pride Awards Europe on Friday, which was attended by The Mirror, as she candidly opened up about her kids and what the future holds.‌The new Strictly presenter, 50, took to the stage at The Chancery Rosewood hotel in Mayfair, London and was brought to tears as she shared her fears for her three children, Isabelle, 17, Ace, 14, and 10-year-old Trixie, she shares with Busted's Matt Willis. She confessed she is desperate for the trio to be able to be "free to be themselves" as she urged the world to grow together.‌"I've got three kids and I want to live in a world where they are free to be themselves, where they feel safe to express themselves in whatever way they choose. And that they are free to love whoever they choose without fear," she said through tears.‌She emotionally added: "This is, I think, the most important awards ceremony of the year. We are shining a light on the real people who make a real difference."Labelling herself as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, Emma urged those at the event to call on her whenever she is needed. "All you have to do is shine a glitter ball into the sky and I will come running any time of the day," she said.‌And she also joked she knows those in attendance would be chomping at the bit to listen to Madonna's newly released album. The music icon released Confessions II, which is a follow-up to her 2005 disco-infused smash, Confessions On A Dance Floor. After shutting down Times Square in New York last month, she turned her attention to the UK and teamed up with dating app Grindr once again, throwing a celebration at Magazine London on Thursday night. But for those at the Attitude Awards who hadn't had the chance to stream it and listen on launch day, Emma came up with a genius plan. She told the crowd: "Madonna has released Confessions II today. Which means that I would imagine roughly half of you are trying to sneak a little air pod in during the ceremony.‌"So we are going to be doing a full sweep of the room between each award to make sure you're not all craftily listening to it."We do have an after party DJ, who I would imagine will be playing some, if not all of her brand new tracks. So I hope you all brought your green lasers with you."In 2024, Emma also revealed how her and her husband had changed the way they are parenting their kids. The TV hosts were left "worried and scared" and wanted to see more safeguards in place for children around smartphones - after taking part in a pioneering social experiment.‌The pair featured in a Channel 4 documentary titled Swiped. They tackled the timely issue of the impact of smartphones on children’s behaviour. And as Matt and Emma joined forces with The Stanway School in Colchester, they challenged a group of Year 8 pupils – and themselves – to give up their smartphones completely for 21 days.It soon became apparent that it was an addiction, but at the end, they were seen to sleep better and be more alert in class with some also having less anxiety.Emma told the Mirror at the time: "You only go into something like this if it speaks to you and you want to help shift the needle. All you ever really want is to keep kids safe and I hope this can make a little change in some way, a small part in a bigger thing that keeps them safe online."Article continues belowLike this story?
