EXCLUSIVE: DJ Joel Corry has shared how his girlfriend Coco Lodge changed his life for the better and addressed plans for their future amid his exciting music career16:47, 03 Jul 2026Since finding fame on Geordie Shore over a decade ago, Joel Corry has become one of the country’s most famous DJs, scoring a No1 hit with the track Head & Heart in 2020. He now has such a loyal following that some super fans even have his lyrics tattooed on their bodies.‌Here, the 37-year-old from London – who has created a remix in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust – tells us all about the exciting career that takes him across the globe, and how his Love Island girlfriend Coco Lodge has changed his life for the better...‌Hi, Joel! You’ve been as busy as ever, how do you switch off from it all?‌It can be tough. The pressure is always on. There’s always something to do, always music to finish. But I’m lucky to do what I love, so it’s not really like work. I get up every day and I’m genuinely excited to get on with my to-do list. I’m a bit of a workaholic. Coco always has to remind me to switch off and relax – she really helps me balance it all.How are things going with you and Coco?I was literally single for nearly seven years because my touring schedule was so intense. I really didn’t have any time or space in my life for a relationship to be honest. But then I met Coco – and she just got me, she supports me in everything I do.‌It must be hard spending so much time apart, though?I try to involve her when I can. She comes with me sometimes, which is great. Even though I go away for a few weeks and we might not see each other, we’ve always got something to look forward to because there’ll be a trip that she’s coming with me on. We just love being able to have these experiences and see the world together – that’s how we make it work.‌Do you see any children in your future?Yeah definitely, for sure. Not at the moment, though. I am very locked in with my career and there are certain things I want to still achieve and dreams I want to fulfill. But at some point, absolutely – I’d love to have a family. The music world is very reliant on social media now, isn’t it?‌I’ve come through all eras. When I started DJing, I was 13 years old, before the internet I think. I’m that old now – I’m 37 [laughs]. It was on vinyls in my bedroom on turntables. Then it was CDs, then USBs and now social media. I’ve always been a bit old school but you have to adapt with the times. And there are great opportunities for young artists to get their music out there. So overall I think it is a really positive thing. You’ve been to some incredible places with work – do you have a favourite? My favourite place in the world, apart from Ibiza, is Bali. I’m going there again in August. There are a few clubs I play there every year. When I go there I can really switch off and have a bit of a holiday as well. If you’ve not been to Bali, I definitely recommend it.‌It all sounds very glamorous, but also a little exhausting...Yeah, there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that people don’t see. Back-to-back flights, no sleep, different hotel rooms every night, a different time zone every week. I’ve had to learn how to mentally and physically manage that. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m living my dream. You’ve had some major pinch-me moments, from working with J.Lo to becoming friends with Sir Elton John…‌Working with J.Lo was huge. We spent some time together, she’s an absolute superstar. These people just have a certain aura about them. Meeting Sir Elton John was another one. I remixed his record, Hold Me Closer, with Britney Spears. We hung out together and he told me how much he loved my music, so to have a friendship with him is just incredible.Who are your dream collabs?‌Definitely Ed Sheeran. I’ve loved him for years. I remixed his track Bad Habits and we’ve hung out a few times. He’s such a talent, and a genuine guy as well – it would be brilliant to work with him one day.Do you have any regrets about anything in your career? No, I think that would be a waste of energy. I call them lessons. You can’t change the past. I’m a very ambitious person. I want to play on the biggest stages in the world, I want to keep it going for years to come.‌You were also known for bodybuilding. What’s your fitness routine these days?It can be difficult because of my schedule but the gym is my anchor – wherever I am in the world, I try to go. The mental side is the most important thing for me right now. It’s important to me to stick to my routines so I stay in a good place. You’ve teamed up with Compare The Market to create the Simples remix. Can you tell us about that?‌We just threw some ideas around and [grime artist] Scrufizzer came up with a cool idea to make a dance to go over the record. I put together a sick beat and the track came together really fun in the end. I love it! I’ve been testing it out in my sets this summer and it’s gone down really well. It’s all for a great cause. It’s quite quirky, isn’t it?Article continues belowI think the British public love things that are a bit random, a bit of a surprise. Especially with social media and TikTok. Everyone loves the advert and knows about the iconic ‘Simples’ phrase from the Meerkats. I think it really resonates with people.Simples (feat. Scrufizzer) [Joel Corry Remix] is available now on Spotify, YouTube and all major streaming platforms. All royalties go to the Teenage Cancer Trust
