Clarkson's Farm star Hannah Bourne-Taylor, known as 'bird lady', has shared the reason she walked through the streets of London naked - twice - and it's all to do with her love for birds13:22, 03 Jul 2026The latest Clarkson's Farm personality to join the show, Hannah Bourne Taylor, has opened up about the reason why she decided to walk through the streets of central London naked. When the fifth series of Clarkson's Farm launched on Amazon Prime in June, viewers were thrilled to spot some fresh faces joining the much-loved existing cast.‌Among them was so-called 'bird lady' Hannah Bourne-Taylor, who assisted Jeremy Clarkson in identifying the various birds inhabiting his farm. Hannah's passion for birds was immediately obvious as she reacted with barely contained enthusiasm upon spotting and hearing some rare species.‌She also left Jeremy utterly gobsmacked when she revealed she had allowed a bird to nest in her hair for 84 days. But her devotion to birds is nothing new, as she recently told her 195,000 Instagram followers that her love for the creatures had driven her to walk through the streets of London completely naked — twice.‌Taking to the platform, Hannah shared footage from both walks, explaining she had done so to raise awareness for her government petition to protect Swifts from extinction, urging ministers to make swift bricks mandatory in all new-build homes. Why did Hannah Bourne-Taylor walk through London naked?"When I realised that swifts' existence depends on securing national-scale cavity nesting habitat (& the easiest way to do that is for the government to mandate swift bricks so that there is one in every house), I launched a petition," she explained in her post. However, she quickly discovered that for the government to consider a parliamentary debate, the petition would need to amass 100,000 signatures within just six months — something Hannah felt was 'impossible for the ordinary person'.‌"So that's why I launched the campaign naked," she said. "I hoped that by giving everything I had, there would be a strength in my own vulnerability - in my own conviction. No media would have covered a little bird petition if I had done everything the same but with my clothes on."Her bold move paid off, attracting exactly the attention she'd been seeking. The petition became the fastest-growing government petition of its time, gathering 109,896 signatures before it closed. This achievement allowed her to repeat the walk alongside Lord Zac Goldsmith to attend a government meeting.‌Although the debate brought together MPs from various parties, the Tory government ultimately rejected the proposal. Hannah noted that Labour had 'strongly supported' the legislation, before blocking it last autumn, adding: "So the fight to save our swifts continues in England."If I thought it would actually work, I'd do it again," Hannah said. Why are Swift bricks important?A swift brick is a specially designed, hollow brick built into the walls of houses and buildings to offer safe nesting sites for endangered swifts, house sparrows, and other cavity-nesting birds. They integrate seamlessly into brickwork, need no upkeep, and address the disappearance of natural crevices resulting from contemporary, airtight construction.Article continues below"Without swift bricks, it is likely that we will be the first country to lose a species that has existed for 50 million years," Hannah claimed in her post. "It's a reasonable & urgently vital ask backed unanimously by eNGOs."Scotland proceeded to make Swift bricks mandatory in 2026, and is now encouraging her followers to reach out to their local MPs and even the Prime Minister directly to press them to make Swift bricks compulsory across the remainder of the UK.
