During her tenure at Bayern Munich, the 27-year-old made 128 appearances and secured eight trophies, adding to her earlier success at Manchester City where she won a WSL title, three FA Cups, and three League Cups over seven seasons. Stanway, who has earned 93 caps for England and was part of the Lionesses' European Championship-winning squads in 2022 and 2025, expressed her pride in joining Arsenal, stating her ambition to win trophies and grow as a player at the club. Arsenal manager Renee Slegers praised Stanway as a “brilliant midfielder” who will bring a new dimension, experience, and a winning mentality to the team, while Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley highlighted her as one of the world's best with strong leadership qualities. The signing comes as Arsenal aims to build on a season where they finished second in the WSL, four points behind Manchester City, and reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League.
