Stolen trailers containing copper cables and data center equipment worth $1.3 million have been recovered by police in Cook County, Illinois.Officers from the Cook County Sheriff’s Department’s Police Organized Retail Crime Unit raided a truck yard in the 2500 block of East Higgins Road, in Elk Grove Township, Cook County, on June 18.They had received a tip-off that copper wire worth $300,000 that had been stolen from a site in Pine Hill, Alabama, was being stored in the yard, and when they arrived, they discovered the trailer with the copper inside.According to the sheriff’s department, the owner of the truckyard alerted officers to the fact that the same driver who delivered the copper had also left another trailer at the park. After investigating, they discovered it had also been reported stolen from Jacksonville, Florida, and contained data center equipment worth $1 million.No arrests have been reported, but the Cook County Sheriff’s Department wrote on X that “investigators are working to identify the driver and anyone else who may have been involved in these thefts.”The owner of the stolen data center equipment has not been identified.
