The Gbenga Fawehinmi Foundation has called for the introduction of Artificial Intelligence education for secondary school students, saying early exposure to the technology will prepare young Nigerians for the demands of the digital age.
The foundation made the call on Thursday during an inter-school debate competition for secondary school students held in Ondo, Ondo State.
The debate, themed “Voices of the Future: Debating AI’s Impact,” formed part of activities marking the foundation’s 10th anniversary.
Speaking at the event, the foundation’s Head of Operations, Governance and Partnership, Joshua Aremu, said artificial intelligence had become a transformative force globally, making it necessary to equip students with relevant knowledge and skills.
According to him, introducing AI education at the secondary school level would also encourage students to develop stronger learning habits.
