MOSCOW, July 3. /TASS/. Russia ranked as the European Union's third-largest gas supplier in the first half of the year, trailing only Norway and the United States, according to TASS calculations based on data from the Brussels-based think tank Bruegel.

According to the findings, total Russian gas supplies to the EU in January-June amounted to approximately 22.1 billion cubic meters (bcm).

This falls behind deliveries from Norway (50.3 bcm) and the US (43.9 bcm), but surpasses Algeria's exports of 20.5 bcm.

In the second quarter, EU nations imported 78.3 bcm of gas, down 4.4% year-on-year and a 4% decline compared to the first quarter, Bruegel data showed.

Overall, Europe's gas imports edged up 2% year-on-year in January-June 2026 to 159.9 bcm.
