KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has moved to tighten the province’s stance on illegal immigration following the June 30 marches, announcing an escalation of the Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla programme to intensify workplace inspections and penalise employers hiring undocumented foreign nationals.
Ntuli was speaking at a media briefing on the June 30 illegal migration marches that took place in parts of the province and the economic impact resulting from these activities, following a comprehensive report by KZN SAPS.

“Through our provincial programme, Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla, we will intensify inspections at workplaces and businesses across the province to identify and act against employers who hire undocumented foreign nationals in contravention of South African law,” Ntuli said.
