A pretty exciting musical partnership is about to kick off in Apia. SolFa Music Samoa Inc. is stepping up to facilitate a groundbreaking 12-week String Instrument Training program.
This coming Sunday, two members of the Fiji Police Band Unit, Acting Corporal Daniel Lipua and Police Constable Emori Ravonu, will land in Samoa to begin a comprehensive training period running from July 6th to September 25th, 2026.
“This is the first training of this nature to be done, and we will continue to look for other opportunities to expose members of the Fiji Police Band,” said Fijian Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu.
SolFa Music Samoa Inc. will be hosting the duo at its official training venue right here in Apia. This whole initiative is built as a "Train-the-Trainers" program, specifically designed to help the Fiji Police Band build up its classical strings capability from the ground up.
In an interview with Samoa Observer, music and education director for SolFa Music Samoa, Philton Solomona, stated that although this is the first event of its nature, SolFa Music and the Fijian Police Bands’ partnership spans a long time.
