We’re going into month eight now.‘The last time I talked about this, I was carrying so much shame and embarrassment, hiding it from everyone I love.‘Saying it out loud changed everything. So, this is just me carrying on the conversation, which helped so much.‘I read every single message you send me. Every single one. They have lifted me more than you’ll ever know.‘If you’re somewhere in this too, you are not on your own.’ Georgia Toffolo with her now husband James WattHer openness again secured a flurry of responses and comments from people on social media – many of them thanking her for her honesty on such an important and highly personal topic. In response, Ms Toffolo uploaded another video, empathising with those experiencing similar difficulties. She said: ‘So many of you messaged to say that you’re going through the same thing. Eight months, longer, all of it.‘I think there’s something quite comforting knowing that we are not doing this on our own. I just can’t quite put into words how healing that is for me.’Ms Toffolo said she wanted to continue the conversation because fertility struggles are often kept private. She said: ‘I just wanted to share it because I think we’re all a bit too quiet about this.‘I was carrying so much shame and embarrassment. I really don’t think that is necessary.’Ms Toffolo explained that speaking publicly about their fertility issues had transformed the way she felt. She said: ‘I was carrying around this huge weight of shame and embarrassment. I was hiding from friends, my family. I was dodging loads of questions and pretending that everything was fine.‘And then the second I said it out loud to you guys, that weight just evaporated. It has been so liberating.’She admitted she believed she would fall pregnant quickly because both she and her husband lead healthy lifestyles. She said: ‘I had this belief that because James and I are super healthy, we’re both ridiculous high achievers when it comes to our health, I thought it would just be easy. It really hasn’t been for us. That assumption was completely wrong.’ Geordia Toffolo has spoken of her struggles conceiving a child with her husbandShe added: ‘It just feels like everyone around me is pregnant, having a baby, and it’s just made me realise that actually a baby is never a given. It’s a total blessing.’The couple have both undergone fertility checks, with no obvious problems identified so far, but are now planning to seek further specialist advice. Alongside the video she wrote: ‘Thank you for the messages and the honesty, sending so much love to everyone in it with us.‘We’re hopeful, let’s see how the next few months go.’Following their wedding last year, the couple posted photos on social media in which the new Mrs Watt wore her wedding dress while her husband wore fishing gear. The photoshoot, taken on a boat, was a nod to Mr Watt’s late father who had been a fisherman.Ms Toffolo had written: ‘James and I got married today. 1st March will forever be the best day of my life - the day I became your wife.’The couple got engaged in October 2024 after Mr Watt proposed with a £200,000 ring during a getaway in Greece for Ms Toffolo’s 30th birthday.Mr Watt, who read law at Edinburgh University and also studied to become a captain at Fraserburgh Nautical College, said: ‘I grew up working on my grandfather’s lobster boat and I also worked for seven years as a North Atlantic captain.’
