SynopsisThe Hyderabad-based startup has begun the process of manufacturing its second and third orbital rockets. On Thursday, the company announced the maiden test flight of its Vikram-1 rocket between July 12 and August 4 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, marking India’s first private attempt to place a launch vehicle into orbit.Even before the maiden flight of Vikram-1, Skyroot Aerospace is planning a second orbital launch later this year, as the spacetech unicorn looks to accelerate test cycles and move toward commercial operations, said cofounder and CEO Pawan Kumar Chandana.“This is only the first test flight, and we expect additional flights depending on the data we collect.
