The Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging the existence of a terrorist group known as “Sai Mallam” operating in parts of the state.
The command rather clarified that investigations revealed that the reports stemmed from the activities of a cybercrime syndicate rather than any terrorist organisation.
The Command further disclosed that the group, locally known as “Yan Vocal,” is involved in cyber fraud, online blackmail, and digital extortion, targeting prominent individuals across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the Command disclosed that intelligence-led operations conducted between June 26 and June 29, 2026, led to the arrest of 13 suspects linked to the syndicate.
