The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria has commended the Anambra State Government and the State Internal Revenue Service for easing the tax burden on manufacturers through the suspension of tax-related harassment and disruptions by revenue collectors and unauthorised actors operating across the state.
The commendation was made on Thursday at a high-level stakeholders’ engagement in Awka convened by the Chairman of MAN’s Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi States Branch, Ada Chukwudozie, with representatives of local government authorities, the Anambra State Government and AIRS.
Stakeholders at the event discussed practical solutions to the challenges of multiple taxation, overlapping levies, and the activities of touts and miscreants who often harass manufacturers under the guise of tax enforcement.
Speaking during the engagement, Chukwudozie explained that MAN initiated the meeting as part of its ongoing advocacy to address the burden of multiple taxation and the harassment suffered by manufacturers from persons claiming to be revenue collectors on behalf of different authorities.
