Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the bank authorities to file a detailed affidavit by July 7, furnishing all account details, while hearing a petition filed by the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress challenging the freezing of its three bank accounts in a private sector bank. The single-judge bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharya also directed the police to submit a report on the investigation by the same date.On Wednesday, the HC had expressed concern over the speed with which the Trinamool bank accounts were frozen immediately after the registration of an FIR. However, the court declined to grant any interim relief. The court directed the bank to place before it details of the funds lying in the frozen accounts, while asking the police to furnish details of the investigation.Earlier in June, the bank froze the three accounts following instructions from the police after a complaint was lodged by a dissident faction of Trinamool MLAs.
