The government says the Home Secretary is looking at ways to deport the leader of a child grooming gang who was let out of prison today. Shabir Ahmed was jailed for 22 years in 2012 for 30 charges of child rape across trials. His gang raped and abused girls in and around Rochdale.

A dual-national born in Pakistan, Ahmed was stripped of his British citizenship, but the government says the Immigration Act means he can’t be deported.
