Two teenage boys who were found guilty of rape have been given four years in detention after the Court of Appeal over-ruled their initial non-custodial sentences. Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr said the original jury had undervalued the seriousness of their crimes.

The pair were found guilty of raping two teenage girls in Fordingbridge in Hampshire and were handed youth rehabilitation orders, which the judge said had been “unduly lenient”.
