Seann Walsh knows a thing or two about finding himself at the centre of a media storm, and he admitted to feeling some sympathy for fellow I'm A Celebrity....South Africa contestant David Haye19:34, 02 Jul 2026Updated 19:38, 02 Jul 2026Comedian Seann Walsh opened up about the "very scary" Strictly Come Dancing kiss drama while he defended David Haye for his behaviour at the infamous I'm A Celebrity....South Africa finale.‌Seann, 40, is no stranger to a celebrity scandal. He found himself the talk of the nation when he was photographed kissing his Strictly partner Katya Jones in 2018.‌Both of them subsequently split up with their partners. Seann parted ways with his girlfriend, Rebecca Humphries, while Katya split from her husband, fellow dancer Neil Jones, as an indirect result of the incident.‌Seann admitted the kiss scandal was "very scary" as it would cost him his livelihood. He said he felt he had no choice to include the incident in his stand-up routine, because otherwise his act didn't feel like it was going to work anymore. He told the White Wine Question Time podcast: "My act didn't feel like it was going to work anymore. People have ideas about you now, people have written about you. I don't even know what to do because everyone thinks you're like this, so I'm going to go and do my act, and that's not going to add up with how I'm being written about.‌"I'm going to have to be as honest as I can here, I'm going to have to drop the act, where I am completely myself, and tell my own version of my story."And the reaction to that was a very pleasant one. I'm not going to say it was cathartic. You think the thing you love doing is going to be taken away from you so you won't be able to do it anymore. And that's very scary because stand-up is what I wanted to do since I was a kid."Seann knows what it is like to be at the centre of a media storm, which is why he defended former boxer David Haye over his alleged "bullying" of Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas.‌Adam alleges that David "bullied" him during I'm A Celebrity....South Africa. In the camp, David faced fierce criticism for labelling Adam "useless" after he declined to take part in a trial owing to a medical condition.Meanwhile, Adam and ex-footballer Jimmy Bullard came to blows when the latter pulled out of a trial, putting Adam at risk of an early exit from the show.‌Adam acknowledged that, while he did behave out of turn at the time in camp, he wishes the producers had broadcast the full outburst so viewers could see precisely what had occurred. For his part David announced he intends to sue ITV for their editing of the show, claiming it was "manipulated" to cause "irreparable damage" to his brand.Seann, who was the first contestant to be eliminated on the series, said he feels "sorry for everyone in that situation".‌White Wine Question Time presenter asked him: "Did you feel sorry for David Haye, because I didn't feel sorry for him?"Seann responded: "Well anyone having to read negative things about yourself, it's going to make you want to react in some way.‌"It's a difficult thing to steer. I'm just glad I wasn't there."The comedian admitted that the gap between the filming of the show and the live finale didn't help.He added: "Obviously I did Strictly Come Dancing. It didn't go to plan, let's put it that.Article continues below"I always hesitate to call out anyone that's going through it. With David, maybe David made some ill-judged choices. I just don't have it in me, no matter what he's said."
