Ever since Taylor Swift announced her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce via an Instagram post last August, fans have been gripped by a near year-long frenzy of sleuthing and speculation over the wedding plans. This week the couple will finally be tying the knot. With guests reportedly signing NDAs and dates flying around Reddit, the facts are scant – but it’s been reported that the couple have rented out Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden, an arena which can hold more than 19,000 people, for celebrations on July 2 and 3.For fashion observers though, there’s a more pressing matter: who will design the dress? We know who probably won’t. Given Dua Lipa wore a Chanel dress for her ceremony last month, and Bottega Veneta for the rehearsal dinner, it’s unlikely Swift will double up.Still everything else is to play for, and with reports that several looks are in the running, here are the nine designers who may – or may not – be up for the bridal commission of the century. The fashion insider favouriteDanish model Mona Tougaard wearing Christian Dior. Photograph: Julien de Rosa/AFP/Getty ImagesAccording to the Hollywood Reporter, “well-placed sources” say her bridal look will be custom couture by Jonathan Anderson, who became Dior’s sole creative director last June and has since re-energised the house, somehow speaking to both its classic customer and a younger, savvier fan.Swift with her mini Lady Dior handbag. Photograph: Aeon/GC ImagesSome clues: In April she was spotted toting a bright yellow Mini Lady Dior bag with strap from Anderson’s spring 2026 debut for the French fashion house, prompting the Cut to wonder whether this is one of Swift’s trademark Easter eggs. The publication described her choice “a little outside of your style comfort zone”. The timing is also auspicious, with Anderson recently wading into the world of wedding couture recently, designing his first Dior bridal look for Chinese model Ming Xi’s nuptials in June.Having not been sighted at a fashion show in at least a decade, and largely steering clear of luxury brand collaborations, Swift has set herself apart from her A-list counterparts.Could Xi’s elegant charmeuse silk gown be a teaser for what we’ll see on Swift? Or will she take some inspiration from the closing look of the brand’s spring 2026 haute couture collection? If Swift is hoping to rewrite her fashion legacy, going for Anderson in what could be her most scrutinised outfit yet would be the move to win over her fashion critics. The all-American dressA Ralph Lauren creation. Photograph: Theo Wargo/Getty ImagesWith rumoured celebrations coinciding with the US’s 250th anniversary, opting for an all-American label would be fitting. And who better than Ralph Lauren? The brand whose identity was famously built on a idealised vision of the American dream, which some have likened to the couple’s public image itself. They’ve already hinted at the possibility, with both wearing Ralph Lauren in their record-breaking engagement photoshoot – Kelce in a signature polo shirt and Swift in a $398 striped sundress, the latter of which sold out in every size minutes after the announcement. An obvious choice perhaps, but a strong one given how much she is known to enjoy Fourth of July festivities. The Swifties choiceHigh among Swift’s rotation of favoured designers, Oscar de la Renta can be credited with some of her biggest fashion moments. Her long-running relationship with the American luxury brand dates back to the 2014 Met Gala, where Swift went for Old Hollywood glamour in a custom pale pink gown, complete with gold detailing and a bow at the back.Wearing Oscar de la Renta at the premiere of her 2023 concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Photograph: John Shearer/Getty Images for TASLaura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the brand’s then creative directors, cemented themselves among Swift’s consistent fashion collaborators for her big career moments. Creations include a sheer floral mini-dress when she won album of the year at the 2021 Grammy awards and the blue cut-out gown for the premiere of her 2023 concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, made all the more fitting given they were also behind some of her bejewelled onstage bodysuits.A few weeks ago, she changed out of her Erdem red carpet look into a yellow sequined Oscar de la Renta dress to perform her latest single at the Toy Story 5 premiere. Having repeatedly chosen the brand for milestones and major events, it wouldn’t be outlandish for Swift to opt for familiarity on her most closely watched day of all.The familiar facesWearing Monse at the 2024 MTV Video Music awards. Photograph: C Flanigan/imageSPACE/ShutterstockSwift’s love for Kim and Garcia didn’t falter when the designer duo exited Oscar de la Renta last September to concentrate on their independent label Monse. A report by Page Six claims a custom Monse design is among the “top contenders” of the several dresses that Swift has lined up.She’s continued to champion their creations in her outings, appearing in a custom minidress with a UFO emblazoned on the front for the 2024 VMAs, while in June, for a surprise duet with country musician Lainey Wilson, she took to the stage in an asymmetrical black and silver dress at Kelce’s “Tight End University” event in Nashville. As far as Easter eggs go, the song choice being Swift’s 2008 hit Love Story – a bona fide wedding favourite – shouldn’t go unnoticed. The afterparty pickA Stella X Taylor Swift 2019 collaboration. Photograph: Stella McCartneyHaving secured a name-check in Swift’s song London Boy from her 2019 album Lover – “Stick with me, I’m your queen. Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney” – will the singer stick with Stella McCartney on the big day?The British designer is not widely tipped to have landed the dress, though she is rumoured to have created one of Swift’s many reported outfit changes. The pair previously collaborated on a merchandise line inspired by Lover in 2019, which included pastel tie-dye hoodies and T-shirts. “What I love is how we really complement each other in what we generate creatively together,” McCartney said at the time.Plus Stella’s father, Paul, also a friend of Swift’s, is among the stars rumoured to be performing during the wedding celebrations. A McCartney design while being serenaded by the former Beatle at the afterparty? Let it be!The corseted coutureSwift has become a devotee to the British label Vivienne Westwood, with a fondness for its signature plaid corseted designs on and off stage.Wearing a custom Vivienne Westwood gown on the Eras tour, 2024. Photograph: Kevin Mazur/Getty ImagesIt ranks highly in the running for her main wedding dress and would also be on trend. Westwood’s bridal line has increasingly become a popular choice among pop stars including Charli xcx, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. The label also designed custom looks for the European leg of her Eras tour in 2024, with one of the show-stopping numbers being a theatrical, corseted dress in white taffeta, emblazoned with lyrics to her song Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?, which looked undeniably bridal. The royal connectionSwift wearing Givenchy at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony, June 2026. Photograph: Erik Pendzich/ShutterstockWhen Swift wore a black Givenchy slit gown embroidered with blossoms and butterflies to the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony last month, she was described as channelling “a bridal bouquet”, sparking speculation that the French brand could be in play. The designer’s past in famed bridal looks has only added to the speculation. Notably, Givenchy’s creative director, Sarah Burton, designed Catherine, Princess of Wales’s 2011 bridal look, albeit in her former role at Alexander McQueen. But as Swift and Kelce’s nuptials has been dubbed an American royal wedding, this notch on the British designer’s CV may hold some sway. The LV streakSwift wears Louis Vuitton at the 2016 Met Gala. Photograph: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty ImagesThough more likely contenders are bound to win out for her main bridal ensemble, Louis Vuitton may be on the cards. One of Swift’s boldest looks was for the 2016 Met Gala, where she emerged on the Manhattan museum steps in a bleach blond bob and a futuristic, metallic minidress. If she’s looking to bring cutting edge to her big day, perhaps she’ll surprise onlookers again by continuing her “Louis Vuitton streak”.The floor-length fantasyEarlier in her career, Swift was a front-row regular at Elie Saab. And the Lebanese designer and the pop star continued working together even as Swift’s fashion week appearances dwindled. She wore a dramatic floral gown during her Eras tour shows in 2023, so if she’s seeking that floor-length fairytale again, this brand could be in the mix.And don’t forget about Travis …Will Kelce go black-tie? With Swift at Coachella in 2024. Photograph: Gilbert Flores/WWD/Getty ImagesAs Kelce’s highly publicised courtship with Swift propelled him into the global spotlight, so too has his flamboyant sense of style come under scrutiny. Could the American footballer’s taste for designer heavy Gucci and Louis Vuitton logo ensembles, and gaudy co-ord suits in his outings, hint at what he will wear to wed the pop star? With reports suggesting the celebrations will have a black-tie policy, the day may see him step out of his personal style and pare down in a traditional tuxedo. Whether his attire will show off his signature panache or not, the frontrunner to dress him is shaping up to be Mike Amiri. A favourite among athletes and the formal wear partner of Barcelona Football Club, the American fashion designer has become a go-to for Kelce’s biggest events, creating custom sets for his Super Bowl tunnel walks in 2024 and 2025. So it would only be fitting for him to be the pick for Kelce’s walk down the aisle, too.
And the bride wore … who will design Taylor Swift’s wedding dress?
It’s been dubbed ‘an American royal wedding’, so who will win the bridal commission of the century? We’ve whittled it down to nine lucky contenders (including one for the groom)
