Reports from Iran indicate that on Wednesday evening, July 1, armed clashes broke out around the cities of Piranshahr and Sardasht between members of armed opposition groups and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) announced that five of its members were killed during “clashes with IRGC forces” in the Qazqapan heights of Piranshahr. Concurrently, media outlets affiliated with the IRGC reported that 11 opposition fighters were killed in engagements across Piranshahr and Sardasht.

Informed sources confirmed that the armed conflict between Iranian Kurdish parties and the IRGC occurred on Wednesday evening, July 1, along the border regions of Piranshahr and Sardasht.

In an official statement, the KDPI identified the five fallen members as Tawana Osmani, Fardin Changizi, Abdullah Haji-Abdullah, Karo Hormozyar, and Mohammad Khaki. Simultaneously, reports have emerged regarding clashes in the Mosalan region of Sardasht, resulting in casualties among the forces of another Kurdish opposition party.

According to information obtained by IranWire, a member of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) was also wounded during earlier clashes in the Mosalan area on Tuesday evening, June 30.
