The Coimbatore district cybercrime police are on the lookout for unidentified individuals who cheated an employee of a private company from Veerakeralam in Coimbatore of ₹35 lakh, by approaching him through an online matrimonial platform.According to the police, the complainant had registered his details on a popular private matrimonial website. An account user posing as a woman from Chennai got in touch with him and they started speaking over the phone.After gaining his trust, the woman lured him into online stock market investment, for which links of a specific mobile app and a website were shared. Trusting the stranger, the complainant invested ₹35 lakh in multiple instalments. The woman’s mobile phone number was found switched off after the transactions.
