Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, Rowen Williams and Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi listen attentively as Minister of Sport Gayton McKenzie welcomes the team at OR Tambo Airport on 2 July.
Bafana Bafana returned home to singing supporters, waving flags, and emotional scenes at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday morning as attention quickly shifted towards the future of Hugo Broos.
Several South African players arrived wearing Mexican sombreros following their month-long Fifa World Cup adventure in North America, while rafters inside the airport broke into iGwijo songs as supporters welcomed the national team back home.
The festive scenes reflected a country once again emotionally connected to Bafana after their historic run to the knockout stages of the World Cup.
But amid the celebrations, uncertainty around Broos’ future immediately emerged as one of the biggest talking points.
