Facebook parent Meta is developing plans for a cloud infrastructure business that would sell access to AI computing power and models, Bloomberg reported.

The move would bring Meta into direct competition with established cloud firms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, as well as so-called neoclouds such as CoreWeave and the Netherlands’ Nebius that are more narrowly focused on AI data centres.

One potential plan could involve selling access to AI models hosted on Meta’s existing infrastructure, similar to AWS’ Bedrock, the report said, citing unnamed people.

Under that model, Meta would reportedly operate data centres, AI servers and models, including its own Muse Spark, and charge access fees to developers.
