An enchanting, fun-filled animal adventure is coming to the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone this month as Cape Town Opera brings its magical new production of The Cunning Little Vixen to the stage.

Opening on 21 July for a strictly limited season, this quirky and colourful show is designed especially for young theatre-goers, families, and anyone who has never been to an opera before. Packing the stage with physical comedy, spectacular animal costumes, and brilliant storytelling, it promises to be the ultimate woodland adventure.

At the very heart of the story is a spirited young fox who is determined to live freely in the forest. Along her action-packed journey, she encounters all sorts of hilarious creatures and humans, learning valuable lessons about friendship, courage, love, and the wonders of nature. Filled with warmth and laughter, this thrilling tale celebrates the idea that kindness and bravery can be just as powerful as being crafty.

The clever new English adaptation by librettist Alan Olejniczak makes the story incredibly easy to follow, while musical director Jan Hugo keeps the beautiful music bouncing along. It also marks the exciting operatic directorial debut of Fiona du Plooy, a brilliant movement expert who knows exactly how to bring a stage to life.
