Five monks were pronounced dead at the scene on the roadside in Ban Na Si Nuan. The three others died at Mukdahan Hospital.The pick-up truck involved was allegedly driven by the 11-year-old, khaosodenglish.com reports. Local police said the boy is now in custody and will be questioned.Security camera footage shared by a local rescue group, Ruam Jai Mukdahan Rescue Association, shows the monks walking in a single line on the side of a road before the truck crashes into them.Monks were found lying on the road and roadside when emergency services arrived to the scene, which was cordoned off. The 13 injured monks were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment as their injuries were critical.
