Updated July 2, 2026 — 4:21pm,first published July 1, 2026 — 5:37pmAn 18-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped a 17-year-old schoolgirl, forced her into a car and imprisoned her in a home 60 kilometres away was intending to marry her against her will, court documents claim.The girl was walking to Keysborough Secondary College about 8.30am last Friday when a vehicle pulled up alongside her.A teenage girl was allegedly abducted as she made her way to school on Friday morning.Nine NewsA 15-year-old boy approached her and forced her into the car, police said, before the 18-year-old drove her across Melbourne to a home in Jezebel Way, in the outer-western suburb of Tarneit.Special operations group officers arrested the 15-year-old at the Tarneit home four hours later.He faced court later that evening, and did not apply for bail. Police on Wednesday morning arrested a second person, 18-year-old Tarneit man Ayom Deng, and charged him with abduction, kidnapping and false imprisonment.According to documents released by the court, police have charged Deng with abducting the girl “with the intent of marrying [her]… without her consent”.In a statement, a police spokesperson said the 18-year-old is alleged to have been driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.He has also been charged with driving without a licence.Appearing briefly in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday afternoon, Deng made no application for bail and was remanded in custody to face court again in September.His lawyer told the court it was not Deng’s first time in custody, and that he would be considered vulnerable due to his age and appearance.
