Ruling New Democracy and its youth wing, ONNED, are organizing an “anti-terrorism” demonstration to protest a barrage of arson attacks against party officials in Thessaloniki on Wednesday that left one person dead.
The demonstration is planned for 7 p.m. on Thursday, outside the northern port city’s Ippokrateio Hospital, where one of the victims of Wednesday’s attack died of extensive burns and smoke inhalation.
Vagia Nestora, 72, was the mother of Afroditi Nestora, one of three New Democracy officials targeted in the arson attacks.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nestora family,” New Democracy said in a press release on Thursday, calling party members to the demonstration.
